Biography
Pablo Aguilar is an Illustrator from San Diego, California, United States of America.
Since 2007, Pablo Aguilar has plunged into creative and artistic endeavors in his own San Diego community as well as up and down the Southern California coast. During his young life in the ’80s and early ’90s Pablo was incredibly lucky to have had unfettered access to some of the most influential illustrators of his life- Edward Gorey, Daniel Clowes, Mercer Meyer, and Robert Crumb, just to name a few. While these influences contribute nicely to Pablo’s psyche, they alone are just a piece of what moves him. His love of comics, children’s books, ragtime and jazz, and the comedic human tragedy viciously stir the pot of his mind. Completely self taught, through trial and error and years of working his bones to manipulate the images he creates, Pablo never stops, constantly pushing to the next level.
While Pablo Aguilar has never exhibited in any esteemed galleries or showcases, he has organized numerous guerilla art shows within his area, as well as being shown in various salons and cafes, and participated in many different events. Reaching his peers, fellow members of his community, and making his art affordable to the average middle class collector are some of Pablo’s top priorities. Over all, no matter what, Pablo simply loves what he does, allowing his inner workings to flow onto paper, canvas, wood, anything at all; a manifestation of life, love, and the intangible into unmistaken material form.
